Campaign for the Clemens Center: Phase 2
We have just completed an 18-month restoration project on time with exciting results!
To attract and accommodate large-scale Broadway and national touring productions:
- Stage expansion from 32’ to 45’
- New truck ramp and loading dock as well as renovation and addition of backstage production areas
- New rigging, sound, lights, and enlarged orchestra pit
To create a beautiful community gathering space and enhance your experience:
- Restoration of Powers Theater to its 1925 splendor, including the lighting fixtures, the mural over the proscenium, and the opera boxes originally removed in the 1940s
- New comfortable seats with more legroom and new seating configuration to welcome physically-challenged audience members throughout the Theater
However, due to a surge in the cost of construction materials coupled with the loss of government money and federal tax credits that didn’t materialize as expected, we still find ourselves in a fundraising mode.
The Campaign for the Clemens Center is much more than a fund drive. It is a symbol of what we can do as a region to enhance the quality of life for generations to come. It is about confidence in our future –in a place where people want to live, work, and raise their families. It is about children –their education and entertainment and how they will develop into mature human beings. It is about knitting separate communities into a regional identity where people come together to relax, to laugh, and to learn.
The enhanced Clemens Center will play a catalytic role in economic development, helping us attract new businesses to our region as well as visitors and retirees.

All gifts of $10,000 or more will be additionally recognized on a Lobby Donor Wall specially designed in glass and located at the entrance to Powers Theater. All gifts are payable over a period of up to three years. All recognition is subject to final review by the architects. Leadership gift opportunities for gifts of $25,000 or more are also available.
