Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series 2013-2014

Welcome to the 2013-2014 Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series!  Ignite your students' imagination with these exciting show offerings: Aladdin and Other Enchanting Tales, Macbeth, Jigsaw Jones: The Case of the Class Clown, The Teacher from the Black Lagoon and Other Story Books, DiNO-Light, and Henry and Mudge.

The Clemens Center is proud to be a partner with area educators in providing arts experiences that enrich the lives of young people. Over the years, our audience has grown to include not only regional public and private schools, but also home-schools, pre-schools, individual families and the general public. Since 1979, the Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series has touched the lives of more than half a million young people with curriculum-related programs. For many of them, this is their first introduction to the Clemens Center and to the magic of live theatre.

This year students of all ages will be transported back in time with the stories of Aladdin and Other Enchanting Tales - a unique theatrical and music experience not to be missed!  Younger students will be enthralled as seven delightful stories come to life in the fun-filled musical revue The Teacher from the Black Lagoon and Other Story Books and will have the chance to share in the adventures and exploits of the beloved Henry and Mudge.   Brimming with music, charm and humor, students will watch as detective Jigsaw Jones solves his stickiest case ever in The Case of the Class Clown. With cutting-edge technology, a wonderful hour of fantasy awaits, combining word-less storytelling with visually dazzling electroluminescent crayon-like creatures that will entrance your upper elementary students in the stunning production of DiNO-Light.  And last by not least, the twisted tale of Macbeth comes to the stage for older students studying the classic works of Shakespeare.

These programs are made possible in part, through contributions made to the Clemens Center’s Endowment Fund in memory of Mary Tripp Marks and her concern for the cultural enrichment of children.

Exposure to live theater can ignite a child's imagination in a unique way, opening the door to a greater understanding of the world and a life-long love of the arts.

Arrivals and Transportation
Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before the performance. Since no traffic is allowed to stop along Clemens Center Parkway, the City of Elmira’s Traffic Bureau recommends that for unloading and picking up students, all busses, vans and cars should use Carl Proper Drive (formerly Railroad Avenue) –which is adjacent to the Clemens Center. Parking for private vehicles is available in the Gray Street Parking Garage, directly west of our building. Seating is not pre-assigned. Our ushers will seat groups in the order in which they arrive. Schools are dismissed in the order in which their busses line up, when they return for pick-up.
