Hal Holbrook will perform Mark Twain Tonight! in a special return engagement which coincides with the 175th Anniversary of Mark Twain’s Birthday.

A living, breathing, American masterpiece! It is, quite simply, one of the most acclaimed and enduring performances in the history of theatre. Nearly 50 years ago, a young actor took the stage in a tiny off-Broadway theatre and introduced the world to a man they’d never forget. The actor was Hal Holbrook. The man was Mark Twain.

Holbrook has never been able to quit Mark Twain and probably never will. He has toured the show in some part of every year since 1954, with over 2100 performances, making 2009 the 55th consecutive year for this remarkable one man show. Mark Twain Tonight! has become perhaps the longest running show in theatre history. Holbrook adds to his Twain material every year, editing and changing it to fit the times and has mined over sixteen hours of Twain with more coming all the time.   He has no set program –he chooses material as he goes along.

TWAIN 2010 –A year-long celebration honoring the life- and death- of America’s writer, Mark Twain (November 30, 1835 –April 21, 1910) and the publication of “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”. For a complete list of Twain 2010 events, please visit www.marktwaincountry.com
